Over the past year, The Partially Sighted Society has been working closely with Natural England to help improve accessibility at the Humberhead Peatlands National Nature Reserve in Hatfield, Doncaster.
As a charity that supports people living with sight loss, we were invited to give detailed feedback on how the site could be made more inclusive and welcoming for visitors with visual impairments.
We were fortunate to be given a guided tour of Hatfield Moors' most accessible route, allowing us to experience the site first-hand and provide honest, constructive feedback on the visitor journey, from parking and signage to path surfaces and information boards.

We are thrilled to say that Natural England have already implemented many of the suggestions we raised, including clearer signage, surface improvements, and more accessible information materials. Their willingness to listen and act on feedback has been truly refreshing, and we couldn’t have asked for a more collaborative experience.

A huge thank you to the team at Natural England for being so open to working with us and for showing such a genuine commitment to making nature accessible to everyone.
