Part-Time Counsellor / Therapist

Hours: 15 hours two days per week (Monday and the second day to be agreed).

Location: In office at the charity premises in Bennetthorpe (no remote working).

Salary: competitive, dependent on experience.

We provide practical help, emotional support, and a welcoming community for people adjusting to visual impairment at all stages of life.

The Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Part-Time Counsellor/Therapist to join our team. You will provide emotional and psychological support to adults experiencing sight loss, helping them navigate adjustment, confidence, identity, and wellbeing.

This role is ideal for a counsellor/therapist who is passionate about inclusive practice and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one therapy sessions (in person, online, by telephone) to beneficiaries with sight loss
  • Work with clients experiencing adjustment, anxiety, low mood, bereavement, or loss of independence
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records
  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to support holistic care
  • Uphold professional, ethical, and safeguarding standards at all times

About You

You will have:

  • A recognised psychotherapy/counselling qualification (e.g. diploma minimum level 4 or degree level)
  • Accreditation or registration with a professional body (e.g. BACP, UKCP, HCPC) or working towards it
  • A minimum of one years’ experience providing therapy/counselling to people of all ages (experience with disability, sensory loss, or long-term conditions is desirable but not essential)
  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • A flexible, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach and ability to work as part of a team
