Where's the entrance? Just over there...
"Where's the entrance?"
 
"Just over there."
 
Most of us have given that answer without a second thought. For someone with sight loss, though, a wave of the hand and a vague "over there" might not be particularly helpful.
 
"The entrance is on your left, about ten steps ahead" is far easier to act on. And if you're not sure your directions have helped, you could always ask whether they'd like you to walk with them.
 
It's a simple offer, and it leaves the choice with them.
 
If you live with sight loss, what's the least helpful direction you've ever been given?
